Flagger Certification Course Overview
The AGC of Utah’s Flagger Certification Course equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge to perform safely and effectively as a certified flagger in construction and roadway work zones. Designed to meet state and federal standards, this course emphasizes the critical role flaggers play in maintaining traffic control and protecting workers and the public.
Participants will learn the importance of proper flagger procedures, understand how flagging fits into an overall traffic control plan, and gain a solid foundation in work zone safety. The training covers standard flagging signals, communication techniques, equipment usage, and how to handle various traffic control scenarios—including lane closures, two-way traffic, and emergency situations.

Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Class Overview
The Traffic Control Technician (TCT) course is designed for individuals involved in setting up, maintaining, and removing temporary traffic control devices in construction work zones. Whether you're new to traffic control or seeking to advance your career, this course provides a comprehensive foundation in work zone safety and traffic management.
Participants will gain essential knowledge in the proper placement, maintenance, and removal of cones, signs, barricades, and other traffic control devices. The course also emphasizes how to monitor the effectiveness of a traffic control plan and identify deficiencies that may compromise safety.
Through expert instruction, guided practice, and real-world examples, this course covers:

Basic principles of temporary traffic control

Techniques for safely installing and removing traffic control devices

How to identify and correct safety issues in the field

Compliance with MUTCD guidelines and best practices
Offered in partnership with the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), this certification is widely recognized in the industry. Students who successfully complete the course and pass the exam will receive an ATSSA Traffic Control Technician certification card, valid for four years.
This course is ideal for crew members, supervisors, and others responsible for implementing traffic control in construction zones.

Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) Class Overview
The Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) course is a comprehensive, advanced-level training designed for individuals responsible for overseeing temporary traffic control operations in work zones. This course builds on the foundational knowledge from the Traffic Control Technician (TCT) course, which is a required prerequisite.
Participants in the TCS course will deepen their understanding of traffic control principles and focus on the practical implementation of complex traffic control plans. The course emphasizes the skills necessary to lead teams in the field, ensuring safety and compliance while managing dynamic work zone conditions.

Supervising the installation, maintenance, and removal of traffic control devices

This two-day class is offered in partnership with the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) and includes a certification exam. Students who pass the exam will receive a TCS certification card valid for four years. Lunch is provided on both days.
