AGC of Utah Supports Industry Letter Encouraging Work Permit Program

This week, the Associated General Contractors of Utah joined AGC of America and nearly 200 business organizations in signing a letter to President Trump supporting his recent comments suggesting a potential work permit program for long-term, undocumented immigrants.

The letter—organized by the American Business Immigration Coalition—encourages the administration to consider a structured, lawful path for certain undocumented individuals to obtain work authorization. As the letter emphasizes, this approach would strengthen the economy, reinforce the rule of law, and bring stability to families and employers alike.

While the commercial construction industry continues to grow and deliver critical infrastructure across Utah, we know that smart, legal workforce solutions—especially those initiated by national leaders—can enhance long-term planning and keep our economic momentum strong.

AGC of Utah believes this proposal is worth serious consideration and appreciates the administration’s willingness to explore ideas that align with our shared values: respect for work, support for families, and a strong American economy.
